Aussie wheelchair racing legend Kurt Fearnley has won his 10th Oz Day 10K title, beating out defending champion Kota Hokinoue in an epic battle on the roads in The Rocks this Australia Day.
Fearnley completed the course with a thrilling display of strength and speed, crossing the finish line just shy of the track record at 20 minutes and 35 seconds, setting a quick pace for the pack to follow. Hokinoue (JPN) took out second place, with Sho Watanabe (JPN) centimetres behind him resulting in a photo finish. The powerhouse athletes finished with a time of 21 minutes and 35 seconds and 21 minutes and 36 seconds respectively. QHDC Australia was proud to have sponsored and witnessed such a fine sporting event. We feel grateful to have been able to support not only our wheelchair racing champion Kurt Fearnley but all the fine athletes that participitated in this series.
